Since creating, who I've come to refer to as a "spirited" toddler, all the time for fun "Sexy Vegan" related stuff i used to have has evaporated. So not only do I not have time to write any more full-on cookbooks, the simple act of going to the bathroom takes the planning effort of a small military operation.
On top of the blog, podcast, and social media, that I had been doing for a number of years, I also have a job. It allows me to be a mostly-work-from-home-dad, which is definitely nice, but everything just became too much, and I was starting to get burnt out, so I put myself in "timeout" (something I've found is much easier for an adult to do than a 3 year old).
I was, however, curious as to what my weary brain would do when my social media usage and overall online presence was drastically reduced. Shortly after my break began, an idea began to take shape. I knew I wouldn’t have time to write a full cookbook for at least a few more years (especially with kid #2 on the way), but I still wanted to develop and perfect a bunch of recipes that I’ve been itching to tackle. Then one day (it was either in the shower or on the crapper, where all good ideas are born), it just popped in there: “Microbook!” A teeny-tiny slice of a cookbook, focused solely one dish.
I thought, “Surely, I have time to perfect one little recipe, don’t I?” Turns out, I have exactly the amount of time needed to perfect ONE little goddamn recipe! And that’s how the Sexy's Best microbook series was conceived...I do a lot of conceiving, apparently.

I realize, of course, that there are tons of free recipes out there, and many are terrific! But it's difficult to sift through scores of blog posts to find the best one. And it's just as daunting to drop $25-$30 on a nice big cookbook, and try to figure out where to begin. These microbooks are a perfect balance. You're spending only a little money, and you're getting one killer recipe. It's like if you just were able to pull out the very best recipe out of a cookbook, the one that will always be your go-to recipe, without having a whole cookbook taking up space. And you haven't even spent one whole dollar.
