The first time I sampled Blue Window I joined a bunch of my vegan blogger buddies and we were able to have a nice sampling of everything. And naturally there was lots of picture taking.
This time around the theme is: Asia. The shiso tempura was light and crispy with kabocha squash, shiitakes, and chili threads. And the tangy yuzu sauce was a perfect complement. The Gochu wings were a nice twist on classic buffalo wings, and the jackfruit bao has always been a winner, from when they served it in the restaurant. The poke bowl was super fresh and bright, as were the watermelon salad and soba noodles.
My two absolute favorite dishes were the ones I brought home for the Wife (because I'm excellent at husbanding). The jackfruit banh mi and Korean potstickers are the absolute "must haves".
Everything on Blue Window's menu is 7 bucks, so you definitely want to bring friends, and order everything to share for the full experience. The menu will change in February of 2016, so you definitely want to taste everything....although I do recommend everyone get their own banh mi, otherwise there may be a fight.
pasta O’s, wood oven fired tomato sauce, smoked chile oil, mini meatballs and ricotta. There will be more to come menu-wise but this was just a taste. You can find Mud Hen Tavern at:
742 Highland Ave
Los Angeles, CA 90038
Blue Window is right next door, and there is always plenty of street parking on Highland, or you can just valet.
